Earlier this week on World Cancer Day, you may have seen news headlines like "Cancer Deaths to Double" … "Tidal Wave of Cancer Will Sweep the Globe" … "Global Cancer Crisis" and "Cancer Deaths to Soar."
These headlines aren’t just scare tactics. They’re all true.
But that doesn’t mean you are powerless against cancer.
The American Institute for Cancer Research funds research into how individuals just like you can reduce your cancer risk – and prevent some cancers – through a healthy lifestyle. And you can help support this critical cancer research.
Our research shows that 1/3 of most cancers can be prevented with a healthy diet, weight management and at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day. And according to the World Health Organization, as many as 50% of cancers could be prevented when smoking and other factors are taken into account.
The fact is, you do have control in reducing your cancer risk or even preventing some cancers by making healthy choices. As we celebrate Cancer Prevention Month this February, make the critical choice to Do Something today to reduce your risk.
