I will be running, along with other members of Team AICR in the 21st annual St. Patrick Day 8k through the capital here in Washington D.C., on March 15th. I'm excited because I've never run a race like this. Even better, it will be a tribute to my mother who passed away on January 24, 2009. On Thursday March 12, 2009 we would have been celebrating her 70th birthday. This is how I've chosen to celebrate her life. I encourage everyone to pay tribute to her by sharing your thoughts and memories in the guest book below.

The goal for me is to live a healthy and happy life and at the same time preventing cancer, heart disease and diabetes. These are all illnesses that my mom had to fight and fought well. I know she would prefer that I not have to endure that fight but would rather see me being proactive.

The members of Team AICR hope to raise awareness and support for AICR, in honor of my mother. If you would like to support our team, please make a donation, or join us on race day!

Thank you for all of your support.

To my nephew Danny,
We have talked many times about the importance of family. You have thought of a very nice way to pay tribute to your mom. I am very proud of you. You must know that you can still have one on one daily through prayer. On your mom's birthdays, I will always celebrate our memories of her. Have a great run.

What a wonderful way to honor your mother and her memory. I read your loving note to her and she sounds like a very special person. Our heavenly father saw her through many challenges and kept her strong through it all. He will also see you through what ever challenges lay before you. And remember, you always have your friends and family's support. Have a great race on Sunday.

Mom, you were an inspiration to me and so many other people. You were always a strong independent woman who lived life responsibly and with courage and dignity. Thank you for being my mother, my father and my friend. I've always cherished our one on one time together. I will miss it, but know you are always with me. Life brought you many hurdles and you took them on one at a time pushing through and never giving up. I have learned from your example and while I'm training for this race and I feel like I am struggling I think of you and take a deep breath and press on. Running will be our one-on-one time from now on. And I hope to have plenty of it the future.
